Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
My name is Shirley and I qualified as an Integrative
Counsellor in the Summer 2019. I am a Registered Member of the British
Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).As an
integrative counsellor, I integrate different counselling theories within
my client work but use the Person Centred approach as a foundation. I
have been undertaking my counselling placement at Kettering Mind and
at Challenging Behaviours (a charity based in Dunstable). Since
qualifying, I have gained employment as a Counsellor at Corby Mind.
I have been undertaking the role of course support assistant for
the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills at NCCS which has involved
assisting with group discussions, observing skills practice sessions, and
providing feedback on this, teaching some sessions and generally supporting
the course tutor and students. I now teach the Level 2 Certificate in
Counselling Skills for NCCS.
As I have only recently undertaken CPCAB courses myself, I feel
that I provide useful insight for students currently studying at NCCS.
This may include:-
-
Information about what it is like to study a CPCAB course;
-
Course progression to becoming a 'qualified' counsellor;
-
Hints and tips in relation to the internal/external assessment
process;
-
Practical information on compiling a portfolio;
-
Understanding and support for those students who may be
nervous about undertaking skills practice sessions and much more.
